Our History
One crew, one truck, and a set of forms. The equipment has changed. Not much else has.
How It Started
Nobody hands a new contractor a building.
You get the footings. Then, if the footings are square and they are poured on the day you said they would be, somebody eventually asks whether you would like to take the whole structure.
That is the entire history of this company. We started at the bottom of somebody else's schedule and worked up by hitting dates. It took years and it is still the only marketing that has ever worked for us.
Milestones
The short version
- 2004
The first crew
Started with one concrete crew, a flatbed, and a set of forms, pouring footings for other people’s buildings across the Kansas City metro.
- 2007
First general contract
Took on a full building rather than a scope. Fourteen thousand square feet of retail shell, self-performed foundations, delivered early.
- 2009
Building through the downturn
Kept every field employee on payroll through the recession by shifting into public and institutional work. Nobody was laid off.
- 2013
The investments side
Bought and repositioned our first industrial building. Owning what we build changed how we specify everything.
- 2018
Crossing into Kansas
Licensed and staffed on both sides of the state line, with healthcare and education work in Johnson County.
- 2024
Still self-performing
Concrete crews remain in house. Every structural pour on a Trojan job is still poured by Trojan people.
Where It Goes
Same standard, more of it.
We are not trying to be the biggest contractor in Kansas City. We are trying to be the one owners call back. That has not changed since the first footing and it is not going to.
